Lakewood originally began as a winter retreat for the rich and famous of New York City and included large estates owned by the Rockefeller family and Jay Gould. The court holds sessions every Monday and Thursday in the morning at 9 a.m. and in the afternoon at 1 p.m. The Municipal Court Judge is Scott J. Basen and the Municipal Prosecutor is Valter H. Must. From the Garden State Parkway: Merge onto US–9 south (via Exit 123) toward Sayerville/Old Bridge; travel approximately 27.4 miles and turn left onto 4th St. and travel 0.2 miles; turn right onto Lexington Ave.; turn right onto 3rd St. and end at 231 3rd St. in Lakewood.

From NJ–70: Travel east through the NJ–70/US–206 roundabout; follow NJ–70 north approx. 7.8 miles; at the Four Mile Circle roundabout, take NJ–70 east for approx. 23.7 miles; turn right onto US–9/Lakewood Rd. and continue on US–9 for approx. 3.2 miles; turn right onto 2nd St.; travel approx. 0.2 miles and turn left onto Lexington Ave.; turn left onto 3rd St. and end at 231 3rd St. in Lakewood.
